The Beck Depression Inventory (BDI) is a 21-item self-report rating inventory that evaluates characteristic attitudes and symptoms of depression. The individual questions of the BDI cover various aspects such as mood, pessimism, feelings of failure, self-dissatisfaction, guilt, self-punishment, self-dislike, self-accusation, suicidal thoughts, crying spells, irritability, social withdrawal, body image concerns, work challenges, insomnia, fatigue, changes in appetite and weight, preoccupation with physical symptoms, and loss of libido.
